Dry zone trial extended

The State Government has approved Council’s request to extend the dry zone trial in the parklands. I opposed the request for an extension on the basis that this law and order approach is not addressing the root causes of anti-social behaviour and is simply displacing vulnerable people. My concerns were reported in The Advertiser.

  1. Dear Robert: Congratulations on opposing the dry zone extension. A law & order approach will only increase tension & injustice towards people who have been sitting down to socialise or millennia & are now effectively disposed. This issue will need to be continued to be monitored. You should consider liaising with the Brian Burdekin Clinic in Selby street on this issue. The practice treats Aboriginal people & has views & authority on such matters. Dr David Faber, social historian & member Greens Adelaide Branch. Warmest regards
